GRACE COMMUNITY CHURCH

Mark and Tina Mast

Ministry Description

Mark & Tina Mast serve with One Hope Canada in northwestern Ontario Canada to those with the least opportunity to hear the Gospel.  A strong focus of their ministry is church-planting, with a focus on First Nations communities.  They also minister extensively through Bible Camps, Wilderness Canoe Trips, Vacation Bible Schools, and mentoring/discipleship programs.  Recently, construction of a new church building has been undertaken in northern Minnesota, in a small rural church that Mark has served as a revitalization pastor.  Mark has also taken 47 teams to Guatemala during the past 17 years to build homes, a school, and presently a new church, along with ministering the Gospel through Bible Schools and serving impoverished people that scavenge at area dumps.  Throughout the Covid era, the Masts have also embraced ministry in India.  They were able to help with the construction of House of Bethel orphanage in India, which was completed in 2021 with finances provided by the churches that Mark pastors, along with the “Prayer & Praise” gathering that the Masts conduct each Wednesday evening on Zoom.

Ministry Calling

Mark was often exposed to missions at an early age through family members who were active on the field. Although he did not anticipate going into missions, he was challenged to attend Moody Bible Institute. Through his training there, as well as participating in a short term mission trip to Ontario through Grace Community Church, he felt called to minister in Canada.   Tina also was exposed to missions at a young age. When she was young, she served with her family in Venezuela for a year. While she was there she felt God’s calling on her life to bring the gospel to the nations. Tina also attended Moody Bible Institute, where she and Mark met. The two of them served several summers in Ontario together. In 1987 they moved to Rainy River where they have been living for 35 years.

Family Life

Mark and Tina's five children joined them in virtually every mission endeavor they were involved with, and now each of them are serving in ministry with their families.  Two of their sons (Jonathan and Ben) are pastors.  Their daughter Rachel is a missionary with One Hope Canada.  Their daughter Miriam is the assistant dean for Study Abroad Programs at Moody Bible Institute.  Their son Tim is actively serving in ministry at Ventura Baptist Church in Holland, Michigan.  They all love to travel and this has enabled them to be involved with ministry beyond the evangelistic and church-planting initiatives they conduct in Canada, beginning with church-planting in Minnesota, church-planting in Guatemala, and building an orphanage in India.
