Church is not something we go to, but something we belong to.

A new sermon series August 29-September 12. If you do a search in the Bible for the command, “thou shalt become a church member,” you will not find it. Why then do we believe that church attenders should become church members? The Bible does not talk about church membership the way we expect it to, it talks instead about how God’s people are gathered together under his supreme rule.
The Bible is interested in the citizens of a Kingdom, not club members. When we look instead for a Lord and his bound together people, then the concept of church membership is “in fact in every nook and cranny of the New Testament.” This series will explore church membership through the metaphors that New Testament writers use to describe the church and how its people are to relate
to one another.
