Kids Club Wrap Up
What a wonderful Clubs year this has been! It’s hard to believe, but this month wraps up another six month season of Wednesday Night Clubs at Grace. What has God done on Wednesday nights this year? So much! We have so much to thank Him for.
Every week, week in and week out, our kids have heard the gospel message in Wednesday Night Clubs. The Bible is not primarily about us and what we have to do – it’s about God, and what He has done. The gospel is the true story of God’s redemptive plan to rescue sinners through Jesus Christ. Our kids have learned, through every lesson, how rich a treasure salvation is through Jesus. In a world where truth is relative, it is a miraculous gift to be able to point our kids to truth that is absolute: there is a God, and look at how incredible He is!
Christ in Worship
Kids are active learners, and a big part of our WNC’s program is structured to give kids active opportunities to respond to what they have learned – to worship God. In every room, every week, kids have had biblical worship modeled, fostered, and encouraged. From the child who shops with the little cart at Family Fare, choosing food items to give to those in need as an act of worship, to the child who raises her hand, requesting to sing Praise the King and I’m Going Free yet again, our kids are worshippers. The gospel compels us to worship!
Secular educators will tell you that the path to educating a child’s mind is through his heart. If you have captured the child’s heart, you can teach them anything. If the world knows how to give good gifts to its children, how much more does our Father? Every one of our small group leaders working with our kids on Wednesday nights has given sacrificially to successfully build relational community with the kids they serve. Our kids are known, valued, and loved. It doesn’t take long to perceive the richness of Christ-centered community happening in literally every nook and cranny of this building and beyond on Wednesday nights. We are so very blessed.
Love in Discipleship
Listening. Challenging. Supporting. Growing. These are all words that accurately describe the discipling relationships of our Wednesday nights. And I would add one more: fruitful. How do we know our discipleship is fruitful? Because our kids understand the gospel – God rules, we sinned, God provided, Jesus gives, we respond – and our kids respond! This year we have seen greater worship, greater joy, greater evangelism, greater love, and greater growth. Kids show up. Kids bring other kids. Kids ask for prayer for big things. Kids pray for each other. Kids make decisions that honor Christ. Kids know that Jesus is the answer and they are turning to Him. We have so much to thank Him for!
I have long held the opinion that Children’s Ministry is a microcosm of church ministry as a whole. We are a church within the church, and a very accurate barometer of gospel effectiveness, because every child who comes into the world comes into it in desperate need of salvation. Kids haven’t learned to fake it yet, have they? And so I also hold the opinion that Children’s Ministry is the best seat in the house, because we get to work on the (very immature and) very front lines of gospel advancement. And because God is so very good and powerful and Jesus is so very worth it, we get to witness His lavish miracles on the daily. Every yes: miracle. Every amen: miracle. Every aha!: miracle. Every you first: miracle. Every I will: miracle. Every come: miracle. Every heart brought to life: miracle. Every single time: miracle.
For everything you have done, for everything you continue to do, and for everything you will do, Lord, we say amen, amen, amen. Your Kingdom come. ~ Hilary Beebe
